The Ratanakiri is located northeast of Phnom Penh. The main city of this province is Banlung.
This beautiful region, remote and rustic, offers many picturesque sites such as the Yaklaom Volcanic Lake.  The province is known for its lush forest with varieties of birds such as the parrots. The region of Ratanakiri has also several waterfalls and some of which can be explored by an elephant ride.
In addition to the impressive flora and fauna, the region boasts numerous Kroeungs Villages, where the people practice interesting custom of constructing a bachelor house for a man who has reached adulthood. Once this man is married, he will destroy the house and will be rebuilt by a younger generation for the next season.
